My time spent as an Academy duCret student has been a great experience. Tim has taught me so much, not just how to paint but also how to be a painter.  His guidance has taken me so far from where I began two years ago.  He has taught me everything I know about painting and I know he can teach me more still.

Timothy is very open and willing to share his knowledge of painting with his students.  No matter what level of skill you are at he can still teach you something.  Tim brings his experience as a painter to the classroom. He is also very encouraging to his students, and he is conscience in giving his students constructive criticism.  These critiques give one comments and improvements to be made, not beyond ones reach All of these make for a wonderful learning experience.

Timothy Jahn has been an extremely great teacher. In my two years spent with Tim, as his student has been more than a learning experience it has been a life-changing experience. Early on Tim had seen something in me that he nurtured to what it is today. With this guidance he has not only taught me how to paint, but has helped me improve other skills, such as simple drawing skills. Tim is incredibly knowledgeable of his subject; he is a highly regarded teacher and showing artist. Art is not just a born talent. It can be taught as long as one is willing, has an intelligent and honest teacher. I genuinely feel lucky to have studied under Tim and would recommend this school to anyone who is eager to learn.

Academy duCret's rendering class has been an opportunity for my drawing to grow to a new level.  Tim’s academic background and high standards enable him to sequentially target the process of drawing with easily understood teaching techniques.  He is able to see where each student individually needs instruction and direction.  He patiently creates a supportive and encouraging environment where students fell comfortable asking questions and can begin to see their own growth as an artist. I found Academy duCret’s oil painting class to be very insightful and enriching.  Though I have already painted in oils for a very long time, I learned a great deal in his class.  Tim thoroughly explains an array of useful painting techniques, which will help both the beginner and the seasoned artist. Without hesitation I recommend Tim’s class for anyone who wishes to learn to paint in oils or simply improve their skills.

I have found Timothy Jahn's classes to be enjoyable and insightful.  His teaching skills and knowledge of oil painting have greatly helped me to further sharpen my abilities and creativity as a student. I have found his demonstrations and lectures on color and drawing to be very helpful and thought provoking.  Also, Tim has the ability to take the complexities of oil painting and simplify them for the beginner.  I highly recommend Tim’s class to any student.

After studying with Timothy Jahn for a year and a half I have learned many things.  Some of the many things I learned from him were color theory, mixing a believable flesh tone and learning how to properly render an object.  I found Tim as a teacher very helpful and knowledgeable not only in the subjects I have studied with him such as rendering, oil painting and drawing and painting the figure, but I have also found him very knowledgeable in other subjects such as Art History.  I also enjoyed being in Tim’s class because he pushes you to work harder and apply yourself.  I found it easy to understand the process he was explaining for every assignment given and found his opinions, input and instruction very helpful in completing the assignments.  I am definitely interested in taking his classes again.
